NiStar Tonner
AGC is the exclusive manufacturer of a Nickel 200 electroplated interior surface of gas containment units.

The nickel 200 (Ni) electroplated surface with 0.020” (0.5 mm) minimum thickness can be polished to 20 micro inch (0.5 micron) Ra roughness to reduce time necessary for passivation to moisture concentrations in the PPB range. AGC uses patented end closures that are electroplated on all inside surfaces having Ni 200 dip tubes installed that allows 100% of pressure vessel’s wetted surface to be nickel 200 alloy thus providing a corrosion and contaminant resistant environment for any stored gases. It is especially useful for transporting WF6 in much larger volumes than done currently. Typically WF6 is transported in pure nickel cylinders which are very small and expensive or electro-less Ni plated cylinders up to 1.5 cuft (42 l) water volume. Electro-less Ni plated surfaces are thin (0.0005”/ 0.01 mm) and brittle, having high levels of phosphorus contamination.
A leader in electronic gas transportation reports:
“ There are two primary deposition methods of Nickel lining. The first is an electroless deposition where the Nickel is co-plated with Phosphorus to create a Nickel Phosphorus alloy. This alloy typically has a Phosphorus content of 11-15%. Electroless Nickel has tendency to crack and leave pinholes in the plated surface. These disadvantages are intrinsic to the electroless Nickel plating process.
The second method of deposition – electrolytic deposition - leaves a pure >99.6% Nickel layer. Electrolytic Nickel is more technically challenging to deposit on a cylinder surface, but provides a Nickel lining that is free of cracks and pinholes preventing the contained materials from interacting with the Steel substrate beneath the Nickel surface.”
The electroplated Ni can be applied to the interior of typical Y sized cylinders (15.5 cuft/ 440 l) or even up to 40.4 cuft (1144 l) tubes.
